Spider Eyes Research is the data controller for the information described here — the firm decides what is collected and why. Questions about any of it, including the requests set out below, go to contact@spidereyes.co.uk.

The firm has not appointed a data protection officer. It is not a public authority, and its processing is neither large-scale monitoring nor large-scale handling of sensitive categories of data, so it is not required to.

The contact form asks for a name, an email address, which of four descriptions fits you, and a message. All four are what you choose to type; none is verified against anything, and nothing is collected about you from any other source.

Separately, the company that hosts this site keeps ordinary server logs, which record the IP address a request came from. That is a normal part of running a website securely and is not linked to anything else here.

To read your enquiry and reply to it. Where an enquiry is about subscribing to the research, the same information is used to discuss terms and set that up.

The lawful basis is legitimate interests: someone who writes to a firm asking about its service has an obvious expectation of a reply, and answering is the firm's interest in running its business. Where the exchange moves on to arranging a subscription, the basis is the steps taken before entering a contract. The firm does not rely on consent for any of this, so there is no consent to withdraw — but you can object to the processing at any time, and the section on rights below says how.

Nothing on this site obliges you to provide any of it. There is no statutory or contractual requirement to fill the form in. The only consequence of not doing so is that the firm has no way to reply.

This site is hosted by Netlify, which also receives and stores what the contact form sends before it reaches the firm. The firm's email provider then handles the reply. Both act on the firm's instructions and for no purpose of their own. Nothing is sold, rented, shared for anyone else's marketing, or added to a mailing list.

Those providers operate servers outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States, so an enquiry may be stored there. Transfers of that kind are made under the safeguards in each provider's data processing terms, which are the arrangements UK data protection law recognises for sending personal data abroad.

An enquiry that does not lead to a subscription is kept for up to two years from the last message between us, then deleted. Where someone becomes a subscriber, correspondence is kept for as long as the subscription lasts and for six years afterwards, which is the period the firm's records need to cover. You can ask for yours to be deleted sooner.

No page on this site sets a cookie. There is no analytics package, no advertising pixel, no social media button, no embedded video, and no font, script or image loaded from anyone else's server. Nothing measures what you read or how long you stay, and nothing follows you to another site. This is why you have not been asked to accept anything.

No decision about you is made by automated means, and nothing here builds a profile of you.

Over the information the firm holds about you, you have the right to ask for a copy, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to have it deleted, to have its use restricted while a question about it is resolved, to object to its use, and to receive it in a portable form.

Ask at contact@spidereyes.co.uk. There is no charge, and the firm will respond within one month. Given the firm holds little more than an email exchange, most of these requests are answered by finding it and doing what you asked.

If you think your information has been handled badly, tell the firm first — it is the fastest way to fix it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. Complaining to the firm first is not a condition of doing so.
